EDUCATIONAL OPTIONS FOR ELIGIBILITY

You are NOT required to obtain prerequisites from any of the groups listed below.
You may use any courses that offer Continuing Education (CE) credit.

The topic of the courses must be relative to care of the foot and lower extremity. 

Examples might be courses in the following topics:

Wound Care
Diabetes Topics
Elder Care - Geriatrics
Patient Education
Anatomy & Physiology
Infectious Disease 
Dermatology
Any Common Comorbidities for Seniors

Topics that would NOT QUALIFY towards the prerequisites:
Mother & Baby Care, Surgical Topics, Tropical Diseases, etc.

To assist applicants in identifying educational programs that will fulfill the 25 CE/CME required for eligibility, the following programs offer approved credits to apply for the CFCS Certification. The number of clinical hours varies by program. The CFCSCert does not endorse or monitor the educational programs listed.

 

Emory University WOCNEC Foot and Nail Course
Includes 36 CE/CME hours not provided by Emory to complete the certificate.

Caritas College Nurse Foot Care Specialist (Canada)
Includes 160 CE/CME hours and 40 clinical patient hours.

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Foot & Nail Online & Onsite for Nurses
Up to 25 CE/CME hours and up to 40 clinical patient hours.

San Jose State University, Foot and Nail Course in the Nursing Specialty Advanced Certificate Program
Course is a 5-unit academic credit course (30 hours of theory, 20 hours of skills practice, 45 hours of practicum).

Rainier Medical Education Programs
Offers a special 30 Hour Hands-on Clinic experience near Seattle, Washington. They also offer 39 hours of CE video education on topics essential for Foot Care Nurse training.

WEB WOC® Foot Care Specialist Essentials and Lower Extremity Wound Prevention and Treatment Bundle
This bundle provides 30.75 CE/CME hours.
